My Hand Slipped 11/25/2014

This world is not nice, kind, or owning you of anything. Be glad and thankful for the people that love you and care about you. Understand that, in the grand scheme of things; you are not a fraction of a decimal of a percent of the universe. At the same time, you matter to more people than you know. Treat yourself well.
Nothing lasts and nothing has to go your way. Persevere to be the best you there can be and maybe we can all have a better existence on this bobbing little rock we call Earth.
Know who or what is deserving of your hatred. A different god or lifestyle is the basis for a debate or a chance to educate yourself beyond the world view your currently have.
I'm not perfect. I know that I don't know everyhing and perhaps my words will fall on deaf ears or trigger an automatic Facebook filter and get deleted but stick with me for this last bit. I feel like its the most important information I have.
I have no idea what the future holds or if I'll see tomorrow. Its certainly not promised to any of us. But if I ever become a dad, I'd like to entertain the idea that I'd be at least passable at the job. I'll have a list of rules for my kids. Nothing strict and nothing as nuanced as "Every third trip to the bathroom, you must scrub the toilet"; just the usual stuff. But I'd start the list with just two rules, because they're the most important.
1. Don't be a dick.
2. Don't stop learning.

As I said, I don't know everything. But I know that not being a dick and learning something every day certainly can't hurt your well being. I'll end this opine with a quote from George Carlin, "I have no ending for this, so I take a small bow"
